Smart Working

The Smart Working project is the natural development of an organisational flexibility process launched in October 2013, with the introduction of working hours that are better matched to people’s real needs.

The project was launched to lay the groundwork for a new managerial approach, one that allows resources to work flexibly when and where they want, in such a way as to reduce travel time and stress.

In January 2015, the Volta Project was launched by establishing a working group tasked with exploring the concept of Smart Working and existing practices in this area, in order to assess their possible adaptation for application in Sisal.

In February 2016, in parallel with the third Flexible Working day organised by the City of Milan, an initial pilot group was set up involving 100 people. Then in May, the testing stage was extended to 80 more resources, with a total of 300 involved by the end of 2016. Of these 300 people, spread evenly across all the company’s operating sites, 52% are women.
The objective is to involve the entire “eligible” population (resources whose work is not tied to a specific site) in the project by the end of 2017.

The aim of the Smart Working initiative is to:

  • develop a framework that works to achieve the goals of individuals and/or team KPIs
  • generate greater responsibility in individuals
  • ensure a more effective work-life balance
  • develop engagement.
