Our history
We are in the immediate post-war period and the friendship that binds the three journalists Massimo Della Pergola, Fabio Jegher and Geo Molo gives strength to a common project: to give new life to Italian Sport.
In a destroyed Milan, in the midst of rubble, you have to roll up your sleeves and start again.
The three journalists paid a total capital of 900,000 lire and founded Sport Italia Società a Responsbilità Limitata – SISAL, in Milan on 3 September 1945.
The intuition was brilliant: to conceive a football prediction contest capable of reconciling the passion for the game with new sources of income for sport and the reconstruction of the country.
It was in the difficult historical moment of the immediate post-war period that the "schedina Sisal" was born with its first official competition which took place on 5 May 1946. Since then the competition has entered the history and habits of Italians, marking the story of Italy of those times and becoming an integral part of mass culture.
The arrival of the “schedina Sisal” was one of the growth engines of sporting Italy, making playful moments possible, full of dreams and fun.
The rapid diffusion of this new game caught on the football fans of our country so much that in 1948, given the continuous successes obtained, the game was nationalized by the Italian state and officially called Totocalcio.
This was a turning point that sanctioned the success of Sisal and the introduction of the modern game in Italy.
Since then, Sisal has been able to play a leading role in Italian leisure time through constant and long-lasting commitment, integrating social responsibility into its business strategy.
