Sisal Group plays a leading role in the creation of a cashless society. This frontline position is the result of a growth plan based on three fundamental business operations: the first, the creation over the years of a broad-based retail network with over 40 thousand points of sale spread across Italy; the second, an investment of over €30m in the network to offer users an increasingly convenient and efficient payment service; and the third, participation in PagoPa group, the system for making e-payments to the public administration.
This is the basic structure of SisalPay, the innovative top-up and payment brand in Sisal Group. “Almost 400 thousand transactions and over 300 entities accepting payments in just one year, ” explains Francesco Maldari, Sisal Group Payments & Services manager, in an interview with innovation and digital economy magazine CorCom.
The extremely positive 2017 results are confirmed by the first data in for early 2018: “Overall, there has been a ninefold increase in transactions to 280 thousand in the first quarter, while the number of entities accepting payments has risen from 100 to 400”.
SisalPay is a successful service with a mission to speed up the introduction of a new cashless culture in Italy. And what lies ahead for SisalPay? The opportunities offered by the new European electronic payment directive, PSD2, which opens the way to a faster transition path to digitalisation for all consumers.
