Sisal Presents the Fourth Edition of FutureS “Beyond the Horizon of Innovation” A special edition celebrating the company’s 80-year history

The fourth edition of FutureS, the event organized by Sisal to foster dialogue among institutions, companies, and stakeholders and to discuss the challenges and opportunities related to digital innovation, was held today in Rome at Palazzo Núñez-Torlonia. This special edition also celebrated the company’s 80-year history, reaffirming Sisal’s role as a key player in the country’s technological and cultural transformation.

This edition of FutureS focused on innovation as identity, ambition, and corporate responsibility—a drive that enables companies to turn change into transformative opportunities for both business and society. This vision has guided Sisal since 1945, the year it was founded, and continues to shape the company’s strategy in creating value for people, communities, and local areas, making innovation not only a technological lever but a true corporate culture.

During the event, Carlo Alberto Carnevale Maffè, Professor of Strategy at SDA Bocconi School of Management, in an interview with journalist Barbara Carfagna, offered a broad reflection on the meaning of innovation in today’s competitive landscape. The discussion addressed companies’ ability to anticipate possible futures and to shape—rather than chase—the current acceleration, with particular reference to Artificial Intelligence and the development of “dual-use” technologies in both civilian and military contexts.

This was followed by the panel “Building the Future: Innovation, Trust, and Digital Development,” moderated by Barbara Carfagna, featuring Camilla Folladori, Chief Strategy Officer of Sisal, and Max Pellegrini, CEO of Namirial. They reflected on the transition toward an economy in which digital identity and artificial intelligence become critical infrastructure for businesses, which must therefore prepare to integrate speed, governance, and responsibility into their strategies.

In the concluding panel, “Building the Future: Sisal, Sport, and a Changing Italy,” Francesco Durante, CEO of Sisal, and Carlo Mornati, Secretary General of CONI, discussed the social and cultural value of innovation and the role Sisal has played in supporting the growth of Italian sport.

FutureS is our platform to contribute to the debate on the country’s future, promoting a vision of innovation that combines technology, responsibility, and social value,” said Francesco Durante, CEO of Sisal. “It is a commitment rooted in 80 years of history: Sisal has always accompanied Italy’s transformations by investing in people, skills, and modern systems. Today we renew this mission with even greater determination: to put our experience at the service of change and build a more responsible future.”

This edition of FutureS highlighted the need for a digital ecosystem based on interoperability, trust, and collaboration. In a context marked by rapid technological innovation and new geopolitical balances, businesses and institutions are called upon to develop shared strategies that integrate vision, governance, and responsibility. Equally central is the role of continuous dialogue between the public and private sectors—an essential condition for turning digital transformation into sustainable growth and for addressing its complexities with clarity in a constantly evolving global scenario.

During the event, the book Sisal. Eighty Years of Innovation,” edited by Luca Masia and published by Allemandi, was presented.
