Our certifications

Sisal sets great store by the expectations of its Customers and all the other Stakeholders it works with. In fact, the company is convinced that the key factor in its success is listening constantly to its Customers and Stakeholders, with the aim of satisfying, or even anticipating, their needs.

Certification of the information security management system.

This means that Sisal carefully monitors the internal and external situation and prides itself on being a secure, reliable and transparent Company, one that rests on the pillars of Protection for Customers and Stakeholders and Value growth for the entire ecosystem. 

Protection, for Sisal, means complying with current legislation and Concession requirements, as well as maintaining an ongoing focus on Compliance issues. Value, on the other hand, is reflected in rapid time-to-market for new products, in the transformation of the Company into a ‘digital-first’ gambling industry business, in ongoing process improvement, and in risk management as a way to identify new development opportunities.

In order to formalise this commitment to protection and value creation, providing guarantees  for Customers and Stakeholders and offering them a high quality, comprehensive and secure gaming experience, Sisal maintains a complex set of Certifications in various areas, as described below:


Information security management system certification (ISO 27001:2013)

One of the most important issues for businesses that make massive use of digital channels is the security and reliability of their personal data management system.
That is why, since 2013, we have certified all the work we perform to protect consumer data and why we are committed to ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of our data channels in a world where the risk of security system breaches is constantly rising. We have appointed a Personal Data Protection Manager (DPO) to analyse the risks we face and ensure that our internal processes are aligned with the “General Data Protection Regulation” (GDPR).

In 2016, no complaints were received about breaches of privacy or customer data loss.
We have also integrated a series of specific gambling and international lottery industry controls into our corporate security and risk management processes, obtaining WLA-SCS certification issued by the World Lottery Association.

Responsible gaming programme certification

In 2016, the certification of our responsible gaming programme was renewed by European Lotteries (EL) and the World Lottery Association (WLA) at the highest level.
The renewal was granted following the independent assessment conducted by PwC to verify the compliance of the initiatives implemented by the Group with the provisions of the European Responsible Gaming Standard issued by European Lotteries.
The standard identifies the key issues for gambling operators to promote responsible gaming and groups them into eleven sections. The most important of these are participation in research projects to understand the issues linked with gambling problems, the development of specific training programmes on responsible gaming issues for employees and retail networks, the creation of games based on an approach designed to reduce risk, the development of commercial communications in accordance with the principles defined in applicable legislation, and the engagement of stakeholders in initiatives to raise awareness about responsible gaming issues.


Quality management system certification (ISO 9001:2015)

An ongoing focus on quality and improving the satisfaction of our consumers and points of sale are goals we work ceaselessly to achieve, consistently with our corporate Mission and Values, and with the result of sustainable growth and greater loyalty.

Underscoring this commitment, in 2001 we decided to certify that our processes which have an impact on customer satisfaction are in compliance with standard ISO 9001.

Since then, the scenario and stakeholder expectations have changed and we have changed too. And we will continue to do so, because we believe that customer satisfaction can be pursued only through sustainability in the institutional and competitive framework in which we operate, through the overall vision of a balanced market, and through a transparent and responsible dialogue with all stakeholders.

We believe in risk-based thinking and the need to identify risk factors and opportunities as quickly as possible, so that they can be managed preventively: that is why we are creating a group-wide risk management framework.

As a result, we are convinced that fundamental factors for our industry are the revenue generated by products and services that Sisal manages through its system engineering, operating and management activities for online networks, the introduction of the “digital first” principle, the anticipation of market trends to present the best offering in terms of user experience, and the generation of an innovative, omnichannel proposition.


Healt and safety in the workplace management system certification(OHSAS 18001:2007)

People lie at the heart of our company. We are committed on a daily basis to ensuring our resources work in an environment in which health and safety are the first concerns. Not only in terms of compliance with legislation, but through a virtuous risk management system designed to prevent accidents, injuries and professional illnesses.

Confirming this commitment, in April 2018, Sisal’s Rome offices were certified in compliance with standard OHSAS 18001.


Environmental management system certification (ISO 14001:2015)

We believe that each and every one of us has an active role to play in protecting the environment. We are committed to ensuring our activities have the least possible impact to help preserve what nature has given us.

For this reason, we have implemented an environmental management system that goes beyond compliance with legal requirements, introducing environmental projects we have designed and targets we have set ourselves, with a view to enriching the culture and awareness of everyone about such an important subject.

We are only at the start, but certification according to standard ISO 14001, obtained in April 2018 at our Rome site, has recognised our commitment to safeguarding natural resources and preventing pollution. Both for ourselves and for future generations.


Energy management system certification (ISO 50001:2011)

Energy is an essential resource for all businesses. We can’t do without it, but we can work to achieve energy efficiency and use alternative sources, while respecting the environment and applicable legislation and keeping a close eye on the costs incurred. And that is where the challenge lies.

We have set ourselves ambitious targets to contain energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, implementing sustainable projects to achieve them.

As part of this process, we have implemented an energy management system at the Rome site that was certified in April 2018 in compliance with standard ISO 50001, and we are certain that this is the right way to achieve corporate sustainability.

In 1945, from the dream and the intuition of three sports journalists was born Sisal. The first Italian company to operate in the gambling industry as a Concessionaire of the State.
