Playing limits and self-exclusion

Sisal offers players the opportunity to play not only at points of sale but also online using the websites and digital applications (web and mobile) available, all developed using cutting edge technology that guarantees an approach to gaming that is safe, responsible and legal.
Gaming channels provide tools for self-limiting monthly spending and self-exclusion (temporary or permanent), allowing players to define their own personal gaming profile so that they are fully aware of their actions when they play and stay within their limits.
Strict controls are in place and players’ personal data is authenticated in real time, including their date of birth and tax code, to prevent underage gaming.

First step: learn to know your limits

  1. Before you play, it is always a good idea to set spending and time limits. The money you spend on gaming is money spent on having fun. Get into the habit of first defining the amount you want to spend, depending on what you can afford, and not exceeding this limit.
  2. To stay inside the budget you’ve set, it is important to take regular breaks while you’re playing to check up on how much you’ve won and lost. When you play, you can both win and lose, and it is easy to forget the limit you’ve set yourself and lose your sense of reality. It is a good idea while you’re playing to take stock of the situation every now and then and check that you haven’t exceeded your budget.
  3. Lying about your gaming habits or hiding the amount you spend from others is a warning signal telling you that you need to cut down.
  4. Loans and gaming are an explosive mix. It is important to remember to play only with money you’ve earmarked for entertainment. Don’t ever ask to borrow money for gaming!
  5. Carrying on playing to win back money you’ve lost exposes you to the risk of losing even more. Losing is part of the game and your acceptance of this fact is fundamental. Playing to recoup lost money inevitably means spending more and more. Playing for longer isn’t a way to win.
  6. Tactics are pointless. The results are impossible to predict and you can’t control destiny. Taking breaks while playing is important, because in the heat of the win you may think you can predict the results.
  7. If you find it difficult to resist the desire to play, the time has come to ask yourself some serious questions. When you have the chance or desire to play, it is important to be sure that the moment is right and that your budget permits it. If you can’t “say no”, the time has come to give some more serious thought to your approach to gaming.
  8. When gaming becomes a way for you to escape from your worries, this may be another source of problems. Gaming must be fun like many other pastimes. That’s why it is important to have people (friends, family) you can talk to when you you think you’re close to your limit.

If you think you’ve exceeded your limit and that gaming has become a problem.

Comprehensive online user profiling allows us to offer customers specific self-protection tools: self-limitation and self-exclusion.

Self-exclusion: how it works

Each customer can decide whether or not to self-exclude themselves from gaming temporarily or permanently.
Temporary self-exclusion: players can self-exclude themselves from gaming for a period of 7, 15 or 30 days, running from the time of activation. (e.g. If you decide to lock yourself out for 7 days on April 5 at 6 p.m., you will be locked out until April 12 at 6 p.m.). During the lockout period, new bets and payments into your online gaming account won’t be accepted, while all withdrawal operations from your account are available.
Permanent self-exclusion: this option has immediate effect and permanently prevents players both from playing and from paying money into their online gaming account. The only transactions possible are withdrawals. If this type of self-exclusion has been set by mistake, Customer Care is available to provide assistance with the special deactivation procedure. To intitiate this procedure, customers must send proof of identity and their reactivation request by email to contogioco@sisal.it or by fax to 06.43204546
Self-exclusion may not be cancelled until the expiry of a period of at least six months after activation.

Play Safe

Regulations and legislation. Government Licence and AAMS regulations.

Player security and protection are guaranteed in the first instance by government regulations, which Sisal complies with as a licenced provider of safe, legal games with cash prizes.

In Italy, the organisation and operation of games with cash prizes open to the public are the exclusive purview of the State (pursuant to Legislative Decree 496/1948). Licensed gaming market players may operate exclusively under a single-concession agreement, as in the case of NTNG games or fixed-odds gaming, or under a multi-concession agreement, as in the case of AWP machines, betting, bingo and remote gaming.

In 2002, the Italian state assigned responsibility for the regulation and control of the entire Gaming and Tobacco segment to the Customs and Monopolies Agency. One of the Agency’s main objectives is to ensure tax revenue, while protecting Customers and fighting crime. The Agency’s other responsibilities include the definition of guidelines for sector development (by issuing regulatory orders), constant monitoring of the good operation of gaming concession companies, and taking action in the form of sanctions if the obligations set out in concession agreements are not fulfilled.

With respect to digital issues in relation to the control and auditing of gaming revenue data, the Agency avails itself of the experience of Società Generale di informatica (Sogei S.p.A.), the technology partner of the Italian Ministry of the Economy and Finance, which uses its control systems to verify that Concession Companies fulfill their obligations and constitutes a guarantee of transparency and legitimacy for end users. Based on current legislation, which requires that every bet be first registered with control systems before users are allowed to play, Sogei has implemented automatic transaction systems which are permanently connected to Operators’ platforms, making it possible to manage the Italian public gaming segment and the tax revenue that this production sector helps generate.

Additional player protections.

Being a licenced operator also means accepting responsibilities and discharging them on a daily basis through commitment and practical action to protect players.

Rules and regulations.

Within the scope of its operations, Sisal has introduced measures designed to prevent fraud and money-laundering.

Specifically, pursuant to current legislation, the Group is required to:

  • adequately identify and verify customers using particularly strict identification procedures (for transactions involving amounts equal to or greater than EUR 1,000.00, while all transactions relating to remote gaming are subject to verification, irrespective of their amount) in certain situations considered to be especially at risk of money-laundering and the financing of terrorism;
  • establish a Unified Information Archive (AUI - Archivio Unico Informatico);
  • record identification data and other information about relationships and operations and store it in the AUI;
  • send aggregate data to the Financial Information Unit;

This establishes that the gaming programs generate numbers in a totally random and neutral way. The tests were performed by TST (Technical Systems Testing), a leading tester of gaming and lottery platforms. TST’s test procedures ensure that games comply with the principles of transparency and fairness during the performance of the operations required by law.

Tips for players

Being a responsible player means being aware of and informed about how games are played. Sisal guarantees transparency and provides supporting information through a series of questions and answers designed to help people approach the world of gaming in a safe and protected way.

Questions and answers

Question: Can lucky charms and superstitious rituals improve my chances of winning?
Answer: No. The outcome of game play never depends on superstitious rituals performed while playing. The probability of winning is always the same. When you play, the outcome never depends on whether or not you feel lucky.

Question: Is the outcome of a game influenced by the outcome of previous games?
Answer: No. The outcome of each game is an independent event and never depends on the outcome of previous games. There is the same probability of winning or losing in every new game.

Question: Are some slot machines luckier than others?
Answer: No. All slot machines work on a totally random basis.

Question: Are SuperEnalotto lucky draws subject to effective, transparent controls?
Answer: Yes. SuperEnalotto lucky draws are regulated by an extremely strict procedure supervised by a special Lucky Draw Committee made up of representatives of Sisal, the Customs and Monopolies Agency, consumers’ association Codacons and the Tax Police. In addition, lucky draws are open to the public (they take place in Rome) and can be viewed in all Sisal points of sale and on the www.superenalotto.it website.

Question: Does continuing to play over and over again, particularly when you come close to winning, improve your chances and make it more likely you’ll recoup the money you’ve spent?
Answer: No, the outcome of each game is completely independent of the previous ones. The probability of winning doesn’t change over time.

Question: Do knowledge and skill contribute to increasing the possibility of winning in games of chance?
AnswerNo. In games of chance, a player’s skill cannot have any influence over the outcome. Tactics and strategies are all meaningless.

Questions and answers about online gaming

Question: Is it possible to intentionally force a break in the connection when a player is winning?
Answer: No. The gaming programs on the Sisal platform are certified in compliance with the principles of transparency and fairness during the performance of the operations required by law.
In addition, we refund all losses resulting from any disconnection caused by our systems.

Question: Does the probability of winning depend on the cyclic nature of games?
Answer: Winning and losing isn’t cyclic because all game plays are generated by a certified Random Number Generator (RNG).

Question:You come across some sensational hands online that you don’t see in live play.
Answer: Upsets and unexpected outcomes are also a feature of live play. Look what happened here!

Question: Is there a correlation between withdrawals and losing, or vice versa?
Answer: There is no correlation between deposits/withdrawals and winning/losing. All game plays are generated by a certified RNG.

Question: In Live Casino games, how can the card be displayed on the screen at the same time as it is being dealt from the shoe?
Answer:The card pulled from the dealing shoe is displayed immediately on the screen with the help of a scanner on the table.

How to defend yourself against online fraud

Here are some tips to avoid falling victim to online fraud.

Be careful with email!
The most common technique used to commit online fraud is phishing, which involves sending false emails to steal banking credentials. The emails to look out for are impersonal, contain links to domains other than the Sisal website and ask you to enter your credentials. If you aren’t confident about an email that appears to have been sent by Sisal, contact us to make sure.

Don’t use file sharing programs
File sharing and peer-to-peer software grants access to your computer to other users, including those with malicious intent...

Don’t let your browser automatically save your passwords
When you are asked if you want to save a password you’ve just entered, always selected the ‘No’ option. If the password is stored, it can easily be used by someone else who gains possession of your computer. It is a good idea not to use passwords that are obvious or identical to your username and to remember to change them periodically.

Antivirus software and regular updates are essential
It is vital to install antivirus and antispyware software and to keep your operating system up-to-date if you want to remain protected.
