SisalPay is one of the partners of Magic Wand, the new Fintech and Insurtech startup incubator recently launched by Digital Magics. The programme’s objective is “to intercept the most promising startups with the potential to generate value, in order to find areas for cooperation and to assess investment opportunities”, commented Carlo Garuccio, for the last two years Sisal Group Head of Strategy, serving all the Group’s business lines.
The strategy planned over the years by Sisal CEO Emilio Petrone, who has led the gaming and services company since 2008 after an impressive career working for top multinationals, has shown itself to be the right one. “If we hadn’t been firm believers in the growth of payment systems, we would never have been able to achieve the goals we agreed with our shareholders”, confirms Petrone, the driving force behind the digital and technological transformation of Sisal Group that began with the innovative and profitable diversification process pioneered by payment services brand SisalPay.
Companies operating in today’s digital payments market have a significant influence on their country’s digital transformation process. “Our channel is entering a phase of technological innovation, with a series of advanced services that are increasingly able to satisfy consumers’ needs”, explains Emilio Petrone, who goes out of his way to remind us of Sisal’s contribution to the development of the neighbourhood channel in Italy, which is now an integral part of Italians’ everyday lives and can drive the use of e-payments in Italy.
“We need to dream and look to the future. Sisal is 70 years old, but to continue to be successful we have to imagine and plan for where we’ll be in five or ten years’ time. And that’s what my job is.” At the helm of Sisal since 2008, CEO Emilio Petrone is behind the company’s success stories over the last ten years: a twofold increase in turnover and growing profitability are the ingredients of a business that reports €15 billion in billings and about two thousand employees.
Sisal signs a memorandum of understanding with AGID (Agenzia per l’Italia Digitale - Agency for Digital Italy). The agreement with AGID introduces a new ecosystem of services that connect the Public Administration with payment services: “We are contributing to the development of Italy’s biggest payments infrastructure ever and taking the first step in the full implementation of the country’s Digital Agenda”, commented Sisal CEO Emilio Petrone, describing the Group’s evolution in recent years.
Seventy years have passed since 1946 and the creation of Sisal: “Our distinctive feature has always been our ability to innovate and diversify: from Totocalcio to Totip, via Tris, SuperEnalotto and Win for Life, for example, or the offering of payment services through the physical and online network”, group CEO Emilio Petrone comments, underscoring the value of the commercial operations undertaken by the company to satisfy Italians’ desire to have fun.
